YETI

Last week, NMS hosted the 2nd annual NMRSD indoor rowing competition, otherwise known as the “YETI”, Youth Erg Trials International. The YETI is a six minute race with each student rowing 90 seconds.  A 90 second sprint on an erg is a workout! NMS students choose their own 3-4 person teams and have been preparing for the YETI all year during the rowing club that meets each week.

Over 100 students from NMS and HB competed against each other.  Last year, Hawthorne students won 3 of the 4 grade level races. Our students wanted to perform better than last year and they have been practicing all year during the rowing club that meets at 3 different times each week in efforts to include as many students as possible.

All their efforts paid off!  NMS students won the medal in grade 5, grade 6, grade 7 and grade 8!  A big thank you to Ms. Stanton for organizing and coaching the rowing team. Also, thank you to Kara White and the whole crew at CRI for sponsoring this program. We are grateful to participate.
