A Visit to the Nissitissit River

Once again our students are exploring the Nissitissit River off of Hollis Street.  They compare the river habitat to Pepperell Pond that they visited last month. In addition to collecting specimens, many artifacts have been discovered from our colonial and industrial past.

Grade 8 Open House at High School

A note from the high school….

nmathleticsOur Eighth Grade Open House is coming up on Thursday November 3, from 6:00 to 8:00 pm. This is an opportunity for middle school students and their parents to take in the academic and extracurricular opportunities at NM. The evening will begin in the auditorium, where parents and students will be introduced to the department chairs, and I will take a few moments to share the vision and direction of the school. Following these introductions, parents and students can make their own way around the school (maps will be provided). Each department will have staff and students available to answer questions, there will be displays, sample lessons in progress, and activities. There will also be an activities fair, Pat the Patriot will be on hand, and the school will be full of our current students.

Progress Reports!!!

First Trimester Progress Reports go home with students today. Please take a moment to review this report with your child and direct any questions to the classroom teacher. Please encourage your child to stay the course! Completing homework and projects on time is important. We are only at the halfway point in the trimester and students have plenty of opportunities to improve their performance.

Link to Mrs. Gosselin’s Blog: October work!

This year I tried something new.  We used chalk pastel under oil pastel instead of using all oil pastel. The results are quite amazing!  Once again, the students in the 8th grade worked on a fall still life. Students in the 7th grade learned about El Dia de Los Muertos and are making prints using foam plates.  I have posted some of the incredible work that has been created this year so far.

A Visit To Boston

On Friday, October 7, Mrs. Walmsley’s 7th grade social studies classes walked the Freedom Trail in Boston and then had a tour of the State House.  The students were shown where the Boston Massacre took place, learned that the pier where the Boston Tea Party happened is now land, what famous people are buried in the famous Granary Burial Ground, and other sites along the way to the Boston Common and the State House. What a great day!
