Last Thursday and Friday, quiet volcanic eruptions occured on both six red and white teams. Students built volcanoes from cardboard trays, newspaper, tin foil and water bottles. With the effect of a mild acid (vinegar) and baking soda, sixth graders were able to observe the effects of a quiet eruption. Our alternative would be to travel to Hawaii and see the real thing! If only our dreams would come true… that would be a field trip of the century.
